Types of proxy servers

Proxy servers can be of different types, most popular types are: HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS.

They are different in their work and quality. Speed of proxies doesn't depend on their type.

HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol) - HTTP proxy - is a "simple" proxy server, which one can meet most often. Basically they are on: 8080, 3128, 80 ports (Standard ports).

HTTPS (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure) - HTTPS(Connect)  proxy - is a proxy, which is able install SSL (Secure Socket Layer) with other computers. With HTTPS proxy you can connect to: ICQ, IRC e.c.t, among them, there are many mail enabled proxies, with them you can send mass mails.

Socks (Sockets) - Word Sock occurs from the word: "socket" .

There exist two versions of protocol: Socks4 and Socks5.  Socks4 is support TCP, Socks5 support TCP, UDP, authorization and remote dns-request.

Socks-server transfers all data from his "first face" - All socks servers are anonymous. Socks can't transfer information about your real IP-address, because that function doesn't exist in socks technology.
